Breakthrough Deaf - Hearing Integration is now known as Deaf Plus. It
provides services and support for deaf people. It has a Mobile Advisory

British Deaf Association
The BDA represents some 70,000 Deaf people - people who use British Sign
Language as their first or preferred language and share a common culture.
They have over 175 local branches.

Hearing Concern
Hearing Concern provide information, advice and support to people who
have lost all or part of their hearing after acquiring normal speech.
It is a national organisation with some 150 local clubs. The majority
of its members have enough residual hearing to be able to use standard
phones. They have an exhibition of equipment in London which include some
textphones.

Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID)
The RNID represents the 8.7 million deaf and hard of hearing people in
the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in deafness and
hearing. It provides a whole host of services including practical help,
campaigning, research, equipment and products for deaf and hard of hearing
people. It has a comprehensive information service.

National Deaf Children’s Society
Information, advice and support for deaf children and young deaf people
up to the age of 25 and their families. There is a grant scheme for people
who cannot get equipment from any other source.
You can borrow equipment to try out, including a limited range of textphones,
from their Blue Peter scheme - around £10 to cover administration. They
have an exhibition of equipment at their London office and in their mobile
Listening bus.
