Accessories

Various extras can help you tell when the phone is ringing. Simplest to install is a plug-in light which flashes when the telephone rings (around £30).

A plug in flashing light tells you the phone is ringing – you can also get one which looks like a table lamp.

More complex systems can be connected to your telephone (and other things such as the doorbell, a smoke or a baby alarm). They attract your attention through flashing lights, vibrating pads, loud buzzers or, if the system is wired in, making the overhead lights in your house flash. Wireless systems have transmitters which send a signal to a receiver you carry around which vibrates or flashes. Accessories can be expensive - from around £100 to well over £400.

Some textphones have carrying cases - from £11-£30 depending on the textphone.
Suppliers have details of all these products.
