People lifters(view report contents)Carony
Testers found it easy to use, comfortable and felt safe in it. It was thought to be well designed with no serious drawbacks. You only need to bend your head and neck if you are very tall. Some had problems lifting their feet over the sill. One lever was near your left leg and some people disliked helpers reaching over to operate it. It did not restrict room for rear passengers. Helpers had to be strong enough to lift the wheels (14kg) and had to be able to reach low enough to reach levers near the ground. The Carony frame is bolted to Options and pricesThe manual model, which is pushed by a helper, costs from £2,800 (+£200 for 24” rather than 12” wheels). The powered wheelchair version costs from £7,880. You can combine this system with the Turney (see page 8) for use on high-floored vehicles – around £1,500.
