Getting a wheelchair into a car (view report contents)

Wymo rooftop stowage hoist

the Wymo rooftop stowage hoist

How it works

You plug the cable into the hoist and into the cigar lighter. The hoist is lowered and you hook on the chair by hand. You winch the chair part way by power, lean out to attach a strap, raise the chair, fix the other end of the strap and hoist up.

Plugging in the hoist was tricky for some. The strap was fiddly and attaching it meant leaning out or reaching up awkwardly. The raincover was a tight fit and some people could not lean out far enough to put it on.
