Car controls (view report contents)

Moving controls

Some controls can be moved from car to car. Talk to your supplier first to find out what is possible. Although you may feel comfortable with familiar controls it may be that newer controls would suit you better. The cost of buying them may be no more than the cost of refurbishing and transferring older controls to a new car.

If you change a Motability vehicle they recommend that controls are replaced. If they are not you must have them inspected, serviced and refurbished. However many adaptation companies will advise you to replace these controls altogether because this is unlikely to be any more expensive than reconditioning them.

This may not apply to the more expensive electronic secondary controls (described in the section Combined Controls) or to some more elaborate fittings.
