Car controls (view report contents)

Custom building

Nearly all controls can be altered or adapted to suit you. Beyond this complete systems can be built around you. These include devices to help you into the vehicle as well as driving controls chosen and tailored to fit you. Obviously this can be expensive as the more equipment you need and the extent to which it needs to be adapted to suit you adds to the cost. The photographs give examples of some of the things that can be done. But almost anything is possible....

WAVs

A number of specialist converters make vehicles which you can ride in – or drive – from a wheelchair. They have a ramp or lift. They can of course also be fitted with a range of controls described in this booklet. Mobility Centres can tell you about these. There is a list of suppliers in Ricability's reoprt People Lifters.
