Car controls (view report contents)Advanced controlsPrimary driving controls can be combined so that they can be worked by a single joystick or custom made control. These systems are expensive. As they involve driving in a very different way, it is particularly important to get an assessment to find out if these controls are likely to suit you. You’ll also need some driving instruction ( see Who can drive and learning to drive for more details).
The AEVIT J control You use the AEVIT J control to steer, brake and accelerate. It can be placed in any position which suits you. You push the joystick from side to side to steer, pull it back to accelerate and push it forwards to brake. It has speed sensitive steering, which adjusts the action and feel of the joystick to the speed of the vehicle. This makes parking and manoeuvring easier. You can switch the system off.
