Registering for priority service
If you have a disability or are elderly you can join your energy company’s
priority service register
What you can get depends on others in your home and their eligibility,
and includes:
- a free annual safety check
- bills in an easy to read form and a copy of bills sent to a friend
or family to check details
- a special password which service staff will use when they visit to
prove they are genuine
- adapted controls for individual needs
- extra notice if your energy supply is to be turned off
- your supplier will consider moving your reading meter if it’s
difficult to reach
- someone to read your meter if you and no-one else can read it
- alternative heating facilities can be arranged for you if your gas
supply is turned off
