Quick checklist for kettles

Which is more comfortable for you, a jug or a traditional kettle?

  • Look at the handles on both types
  • Think about the weight of the kettle with water in it
  • Can you fill the kettle through the spout easily
  • Does the lid come off and go on easily

Do you want a cordless or corded kettle?

  • Corded kettles need to be plugged in and unplugged which can be tricky
  • What about a kettle tipper? - these can't be used with cordless kettles

Look at the buttons and the indicators on the kettle

  • Is there a water level indicator and is it easy to see
  • Are the buttons visible clearly or easy to feel, can you tell if the kettle is on or off

Think about safety

  • Are there any sharp edges on the lid
  • Does steam leak out from the top when it boils
  • Does the outside or the handle get hot
