Boards

Use this list to check out any board or seat you are thinking about

  • Look for padded surfaces or moulded shapes which look as if they might suit you
  • Wooden seats may be too hard
  • Metal can be cold

Will water drain away?

  • Drainage holes are an advantage, but avoid large holes or slats which could be uncomfortable to sit on, or which could trap parts of your body?
  • Avoid boards which are hollow and could fill with water

Will it fit?

  • Is the bath rim wide enough to support the board?
  • Does the board come in a length which will fit your bath?
  • Is the board wide enough for you to sit on comfortably?

Is it easy to fix to the bath?

  • Can you – or whoever will do it – fix it on your bath and take it off again?
  • Avoid hard to turn or fiddly fixings

Is it safe?

  • Check it will take your weight

Seats

Is it comfortable?

  • Would a seat with a backrest be more comfortable?
  • Cutaways are more comfortable for men?

Will it fit?

  • If you want a hanging seat, is the bath rim wide enough to support it?

  • Can its width be adjusted?
  • Be careful of seats which wedge in plastic baths because the bath may not be strong enough

Is it easy to fix in the bath?

  • Can you – or whoever will do it – fix the seat in your bath and take it out again?
  • Will it suit your bath?

Is it safe?

  • Check it will take your weight
