Bottles, warmers and sterilisers (view report contents)Steriliser buying guideThe cold water sterilisers were easy to load and unload but you have to empty them once a day, and dispose of a large quantity of sterilising solution - particular problems if you have dexterity or learning difficulties. Many of the steam sterilisers were difficult to use - some had awkward lids, others complicated basket systems or they would be too high for some people to load and unload comfortably. All got hot on the outside towards the end of sterilising. The Bruin (£24.99) was reasonably easy to use. Microwave sterilisers were generally the easiest to use because they were light. Some were simple to load and they were all easy to take in and out of a microwave oven - if you have one. The Babytec (£7.99) and Bruin cold water and microwave sterilising system (£9.99) were easy to use for all. The following sections provide more detail about sterilisers, including the pros and cons of different types.
